Welcome to Investing ABC's Ron Clark is a self taught investor who learned how to get out of debt after his oldest daughter became ill in 1995 with a rare disease called Gullain-Barre’ Syndrome. She went from perfect health to respiratory failure in less then 36 hours. She almost died. Hospital bills exceeded $500,000. $30,000 came out of his pocket. Although Ron had excellent insurance, numerous payments were delayed because the required funds were not there. Ron’s credit was damaged. He found himself deep in debt and considered filing bankruptcy. Instead of taking the easy way out, he worked effectively to get out of debt. He read numerous investment books and became self educated on investing. He joined an NAIC investment club and in 2000, he served as the club president. Today he is the Associate Director of the Dallas Chapter of Better Investing for their Youth Leadership Program. He developed a briefing on how to get out of debt and how to begin investing, and he shared this information with the federal government, schools, churches, libraries, investment clubs, and numerous volunteer organizations. Over the past 9 years he has shared his story with over 15,000 individuals in the United States. His experiences and what he learned will be detailed book which will be on this web site in the near future. His presentations have included the Federal Government Department of Transportation, Department of Treasury, and the Department of Agriculture, the Texas Credit Union League and several member organizations, Toastmasters International conferences, and the KRLD Managing Your Money Seminar in Dallas, Texas. He continues to serve on the Texas Jumpstart Executive Board for financial literacy education to all schools in the state of Texas. He delights audiences with his presentations that are both humorous and informative. His presentations can last between one to two hours depending on the preference of the audience. His presentations include information on basic investing, getting out of debt, risk tolerance, cost of fees, and the history of investments. He also includes a study that he conducted in 2001 where his list of 12 stocks averaged growth of 75% per year until 2007 when most stocks were down significantly. In addition, he is an expert in establishing personal goals. Mr. Clark earned a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from UTA. He worked as an engineer for the Federal government until he retired in 2006. Mr. Clark applies many of the same cost engineering techniques used to save the taxpayers over $10 million per year since the late 1980’s in his investing and presentations.
